  • Custom-made bleaching trays
  • Refill whitening gel available
  • Free smile makeover consultations to discuss whitening

Here at The Mount Dental Practice, we prescribe custom-made take-home whitening kits

These kits consist of whitening trays and small tubes of whitening gel. We will take moulds of your teeth and use these to create your trays which closely resemble gum shields.

To whiten your teeth, simply place a small drop of the gel inside each tooth-shaped slot in your trays. Press the trays over your teeth, and wait for the prescribed amount of time. We will give you a recommended bleaching time based upon your unique whitening goals and the specific bleaching formula we prescribed.

For example, we may advise that you leave the trays in place for 30 minutes twice a day, or we may recommend wearing them overnight.

You should start seeing results within two weeks of starting your daily at-home whitening treatment. Your whitening trays can last you as long as you need them to, but you can purchase refill bleaching gel from us, as needed.

    Questions about your treatment journey

    • Why should I choose professional teeth bleaching over DIY teeth whitening?

Many of those DIY teeth whitening remedies you may see on the Internet can be harmful to teeth. Although made from ‘natural’ ingredients, some of these techniques can be abrasive to tooth enamel or irritating to the gums. In professional treatment, you can be assured of receiving safe and high-quality bleach that comes with professional oversight.

    • Is teeth bleaching safe?

Teeth bleaching that is overseen by a dental professional is perfectly safe. Your treatment will be most effective when you follow the instructions your dentist gives you.

    • How soon will I see results from whitening my teeth?

The exact time varies from person to person, but most people do notice a difference within two weeks of starting their at-home teeth whitening regimen. Depending on how your teeth respond to the whitening gel, you may notice a change right away.

    • Will I have to re-do my teeth whitening?

Your teeth can stay white for many months after whitening. But new stains that accumulate over time will lead to new discolouration. You may have to occasionally retouch your tooth colour to keep your smile bright, but maintaining good oral hygiene and avoiding smoking and dark-coloured foods can help you keep your teeth white for a long time.

    • Will teeth whitening make my teeth sensitive?

When it is done properly, and with moderation, bleaching does not have to make your teeth sensitive. The powerful bleaching agents in whitening gels can cause temporary sensitivity, if used to excess. This is because they open up enamel pores, reducing the natural insulation of teeth. Simply follow the instructions your dentist gives you to minimise discomfort while you whiten.
